Use your Mind

Your mind is the  compass that shapes your destiny. Its quality will determine the quality of your life. It is the light that dictates your path. You cannot change your life without changing your mind. If we pay as much attention to the development and shape of our minds as we do to our external appearance, we will advance in leaps and bounds.
A lot of people would rather buy designer clothes than buy a book. Many people have a budget for entertainment but not for developing their minds. And we still wonder why people resist change?
You cannot be open to change if your mind is frozen in the past or in the present. If your expenditure on your outside is greater than
your expenditure on your mind, then you have some
adjustments to do. Upgrade your mind. Read a book today. The person who does not read has no advantage over the one who cannot read

Teetotaler

there were two young boys who were raised in the home of an alcoholic father. As young men, they each went their own way. Years later, a psychologist who was analyzing what drunkenness does to children in the home searched out these two men. One had turned out to be like his father, a hopeless alcoholic. The other had turned out to be a teetotaler.
The counselor asked the first man, “Why did you become an alcoholic?” And the second, “Why did you become a teetotaler?” And they both gave the same identical answer in these words, “What else could you expect when you had a father like mine?” It’s not what happens to you in life but how you react to it that makes the difference. Every human being in the same situation has the possibilities of choosing how he will react, either positively or negatively.

Sit , Settle and Start again

Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit , settle and start again

A Couple of Beers with a Friend

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles roll
ed into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’
The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand.The students laughed..
‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—-your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—-and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.. The sand is everything else—-the small stuff.
‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and mow the lawn.
Take care of the golf balls first—-the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’ The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.

Destroyed by Girls

Solomon is considered to be the wisest man that ever lived, yet there are some things that he did that were not wise at all like having 700 wives and 300 concubines. Think about this, if Solomon was to spend a day with each of his women, it would take him almost three years just to do that.
He had an appetite for something that God had warned them about; not to marry foreign women. In all his wisdom, Solomon was not able to contain his appetite for foreign women and they turned his heart away from God and that led to his down fall. Samson also found himself in the same predicament. He had an appetite for philistine women that he could not contain and that left him bound bald and blind.
King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughters Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. They were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.

What are you thinking?

What are you thinking? 
Our family lived in one house for about 15 years and then moved to a new house not too far away. I still ran errands in the same area and went to the same grocery store. On more than one occasion, I would be out and about and then get into my car to head home…only to find that I had driven right back to my old house. I’d pull into the driveway before I ever even caught myself! Have you ever had something like that happen? This is just one example of how our minds travel back to the old if we aren’t intentional about focusing on the new.


Anytime we are trying to make a change in our lives, it’s like paving a new road. It happens in stages. It can be tempting to take the “old road” because that road is paved and familiar. But, the familiar isn’t going to get us to our destiny. Taking the road less traveled or taking new ground—that’s how we grow, learn and develop into everything God has called us to be.

Today, I just want to encourage you to think intentionally. Set your mind on the Word of God. Don’t just let your thoughts wander. The Bible says to take captive every thought. That means we don’t let our thoughts flow aimlessly; we intentionally set our thoughts on God and His Word. When you think intentionally, you’ll act intentionally and move forward intentionally into the place of victory and fulfillment God has prepared for you!

I do not have patience for certain things, not because i have become arrogant, but simply because i have reached a point in my life where i do not want to waste more time on what displeases or hurts me.
I have lost the will to please those who do not like me and to smile at those who do not want to smile at me. I no longer spend a single second on those who lie or want to manipulate me.
I have decided not to co exist anymore with pretense, hypocrisy, dishonesty and cheap praise.
 I will avoid people with rigid and inflexible personalities. in friendship i dislike lack of royalty and betrayal.
 I do not get along with those who do not know how to give a genuine compliment  or a word of encouragement.Exagerrations are not interesting to me.
On top of it all,
 i have no patience with anyone who does not deserve my patience.

Need a husband or Wife? You need a promotion? Go an extra mile

Two sons work for their father on the family‘s farm. The younger brother had for some years been given more responsibility and reward, and one day the older brother asks his father to explain why. The father says, “First, go to the Kelly’s farm and see if they have any geese for sale – we need to add to our stock.” The brother soon returns with the answer, “Yes they have five geese they can sell to us.” The father then says, “Good, please ask them the price.” The son returns with the answer, “The geese are $10 each.” The father says, “Good, now ask if they can deliver the geese tomorrow.” And duly the son returns with the answer, “Yes, they can deliver the geese them tomorrow.”
The father asks the older brother to wait and listen, and then calls to the younger brother in a nearby field, “Go to the Davidson’s Farm and see if they have any geese for sale – we need to add to our stock.” The younger brother soon returns with the answer, “Yes, they have five geese for $10 each, or ten geese for $8 each; and they can deliver them tomorrow – I asked them to deliver the five unless they heard otherwise from us in the next hour. And I agreed that if we want the extra five geese we could buy them at $6 each. The father turned to the older son, who nodded his head in appreciation – he now realised why his brother was given more responsibility and reward.
I read that story and I immediately thought of the story of Rebecca in Genesis 24:17-19
The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.” “Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink. After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.”

Do you go the extra mile or do you just get by with the bare minimum? This one thing I have realized, many people want to be blessed yet they are not willing to put in the work and take the initiative to go the extra mile. All that Abraham’s servant requested of Rebecca was a drink of water for himself, but Rebecca went the extra mile and offered to water his camels also. This was no small task and Abraham’s servant stood by to watch if this young lady had offered more than she could deliver. Surprisingly Rebecca followed through on what she had offered. Because of her generosity and kindness she ends up in the genealogy of the messiah. Are you the kind of person who is content with doing just the bare minimum? If you are, most likely you are always complaining when others are favoured because of the initiative they take. Do you have any responsibilities today? Be like the younger son, think it through and go the extra mile.

Fully Engaged

There is a mabati advertisement that comes on TV from which we can learn a valuable lesson as Christians. Two gentlemen meet at a hardware store and both are looking for roofing material to finish up their homes. One asks for a particular brand of mabati because he knows it is of good quality and durable. He does not even bother to ask for the price because he is after quality. The second man on the other hand is all about saving a few shillings and so he asks for a cheaper quality of mabati. Both customers are happy as they leave the hardware store. Fast forward to a few months later and it is the rainy season. The man who went for the cheaper mabati is busy in his house looking for containers to trap the rain because his house is leaking all over. The cheap mabati was not cheap after all because now it will cost him more. The one who choose quality on the other hand is busy enjoying a cup of tea in his house with nothing much to worry about…
We are all builders and each one of us has the opportunity to choose the kind of material we shall build with. Building material comes in many shapes and forms and also different qualities. The more durable the material, the deeper you have to dig into your pocket. Each and every one of us has been given a foundation on which to build on, the foundation being Jesus Christ. We have the responsibility of choosing the kind of material we use to build with. So will you go for gold and silver or wood and straw? Many people are not willing to pay the price to build with expensive material. Expensive material will mean maintaining your purity and keeping your boundaries when everyone else says you don’t have to. It will mean not defiling yourself by sieving what you watch and where you go. Expensive material means letting go of some of the relationships that are pulling you behind.
It will mean being diligent, faithful and consistent in studying the word and prayer. It will mean being involved in the house of God, sharing the gospel and being an example in word and deed. It will mean listening an obeying the voice of God even when it seems absurd. It will mean not being with the status quo for the sake of honoring God. Are you willing to pay the price of building with such material? Or would you rather be shallow and use cheap material that may look appealing to others but it is not durable. Remember you are responsible for the kind of material you use to build you can not put that blame on someone else. Go for quality and pay the price because there is a fire that is coming to test what you have built and you don’t want to be left with a heap of ashes. Choose wisely what you use to build today. Go for quality and yes it will cost you but its worth it

Let Faith Touch Your Heart
Jesus gives a warning addressed to the chief priests and elders of the people that is particularly severe: “The Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will bear its fruits” (Matthew 21:43).
These are words that make us think of the great responsibility of those who, in every age, are called to work in the vineyard of the Lord, especially with the role of authority; they move us to complete fidelity to Christ.
He is the “stone that the builders rejected” (cf. Matthew 21:42), because they judged him an enemy of the law and a threat to public order; but he himself, rejected and crucified, is risen, becoming the “cornerstone” upon which every human existence and the entire world can rest with absolute security.
It is not words that matter, but deeds, deeds of conversion and faith. Jesus directs this message to the chief priests and elders of the people of Israel, that is, to the religious experts of his people. At first they say “yes” to God’s will, but their piety becomes routine and God no longer matters to them. For this reason they find the message of Jesus disturbing. This same message is being given to you today. Is it disturbing to you?
The Lord concludes his parable with harsh words: ” For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the harlots believed him, and even when you saw it, you did not afterward repent and believe him” (Mt 21:32).
Translated into the language of the present day, this statement might sound something like this: agnostics, who are constantly exercised by the question of God, those who long for a pure heart but suffer on account of their sin, are closer to the Kingdom of God than believers whose life of faith is “routine” and who regard the Church merely as an institution, without letting it touch their hearts, or letting the faith touch their hearts.

want to get married, Control Your desires

Are we consumed by appetites that are robbing us of our God ordained destiny? Yes you are born again and you love Jesus but what kind of appetites have you allowed to dictate your lifestyle? Is it an appetite for an illicit office affair? Or maybe you just have a big appetite for ungodly movies? Are you just so consumed with an appetite for beer and alcohol?
Yes you go to church and you want to serve God but you just cannot stay away from prostitutes. Or maybe its something like stealing you just love the thrill of picking things that are not yours and getting away with it? Or you simply have an appetite to tell lies? You just can’t seem to satisfy you appetite for secular ungodly music and music videos and you are constantly trying to justify why you just have to feed these appetites.
Whatever it is weather you consider it big or small, the more you feed it the more it grows until one day like King Solomon you will not only have 700 wives, but three hundred concubines to add on to that. You and I need to realize that our fleshly appetites are driving us further and further away from our God ordained destiny. Like Esau are you willing to sell your birth rite just to feed your fleshly appetite?
Our flesh has a never-ending appetite for sin and it is always looking for its next meal. Yet by the power of God’s Spirit, we can resist the temptation to feed our flesh and instead focus on the things of God. Like Daniel, Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego who hungered more for the things of God than for the things of men. Make up your mind today to feed your Godly appetites and not your fleshly ones.

Activate Your Seed of Greatness 

It was a very bad year and a farmer had most of his crop destroyed because there was too much rain. As he was walking through his farm assessing his loses, he came across a most unusual soybean plant. He was shocked by its size, so he went and carefully picked off the pods. From these he collected 503 soybeans. He took them and kept them in a safe place as he waited the next planting season.

Soon it was time to plant again, so he took the 503 seeds and planted them in a little plot of land right behind his house. When the harvest season came, he harvested 16 kilos of soybeans. 16 kilos! He did not eat them but repeated the process once again, this time planting them on a 1 acre piece of land. When harvest time came, he harvested 1200 kilos of soybeans and still he did not feed on them but repeated the process one more time this time planting them over all the land he owned.

Harvest season was back again and this time he cashed in on what he harvested giving him close to a cool 1 million shillings, all this from one soy plant. It is important to note that this scripture say that God supplies seed to the sower and bread for food. Many of us make the mistake of either eating the seed or not sowing it at all. When you think about the story, the entire farmer was given was one healthy soybean plant.

The two other things he had were time and land and when he combined the three, the power of the seed took effect. How many of us have seeds within us that we have not sowed yet we keep blaming God for not meeting us at our point of need? Could it be that your prayers were answered a long time ago in the form of a seed yet you have not realized it because you are waiting for bread?

Like a wise man once said, any fool can count the number of seeds in an apple but only God can count the number of apples in a seed! The kind of soil you plant your seed in is also of great importance because it determines the quality of crop you harvest, just like the seed that fell on good ground. The amazing thing about a seed is that the potential will lie dormant for years until the right conditions for it to germinate appear. You would be amazed at the kind of vegetation that would germinate if it were to rain in the desert.

We all have within us seeds for greatness because we are made in the image and likeness of God. Some of us have identified these seeds and with God's help found the right place to plant them and the results have been amazing. Do not despise the small things that God has put in your life. Ask Him for wisdom to know where to sow them and see the kind of harvest they can bring in.

New Creation in Baptism

Readings: Isaiah 42:1-4, 6-7 Psalm 29:1-4, 9-10 Acts 10:34-38 Matthew 3:13-17

Jesus presents himself for John’s baptism in today’s Gospel, not because He is a sinner, but to fulfill the word of God proclaimed by His prophets. He must be baptized to reveal that He is The Christ (“anointed one”)—the Spirit-endowed Servant promised by Isaiah in today’s First Reading. His baptism marks the start of a new world, a new creation.
The Evangelist recounts that when Jesus emerged from the waters, the Holy Spirit descended upon him in the form of a dove, while the Father's voice from Heaven proclaimed him "my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased" (Mt 3: 17). Jesus is revealed as the One who came to baptize humanity in the Holy Spirit: he came to give men and women life in abundance (John 10: 10), eternal life, which brings the human being back to life and heals him entirely, in body and in spirit, restoring him to the original plan for which he was created.
The purpose of Christ's existence was precisely to give humanity God's life and his Spirit of love so that every person might be able to draw from this inexhaustible source of salvation. This is why St Paul wrote to the Romans that we were baptized into the death of Christ in order to have his same life as the Risen One (Romans 6: 3-4).
Being baptized by John together with sinners, Jesus began to take upon himself the weight of all of humanity's sin, like the Lamb of God who "takes away" the sin of the world (John 1: 29): an act which he brought to fulfillment on the Cross when he also received his "baptism" ( Luke 12: 50). In fact, by dying he is "immersed" in the Father's love and the Holy Spirit comes forth, so that those who believe in him could be reborn by that inexhaustible font of new and eternal life.
Christ's entire mission is summed up in this: to baptize us in the Holy Spirit, to free us from the slavery of death and "to open heaven to us", that is, access to the true and full life that will be "a plunging ever anew into the vastness of being, in which we are simply overwhelmed with joy"

The story is based on Mara River as a venue for romance and sacrifices. Thayu Forest is a holy and evil place where bad and good sacrifices are made. There is a mixture of rapes and happy romantic moments for the two couples. Askander has pledged to do anything that will make him the leader of all the communities in the region. Hon. Alfayo is out to terminate Askander to retain the Top Position.While the struggle for power is going on, their wives join to form First Ladies First Project that takes care of Thayu Forest Community members as their two leaders fight to win the upcoming 2013 general elections. Dreams take over and reveal hidden iniquities that shock the dreamers when they wake up. Women in the region develop their project and form The Regional Women Leaders, a body that is governing all the women and helping men and women who are needy. The struggle for power is fuelled by Kamakura the Chief Medicine Man of Thayu Forest Community. He advices Askander to rape a young child as a source of power. However, he is forced to rape two old sick women when rapes his own daughter. This leads to death of old lady Number Four of the FLF project compelling Hon. Alfayo to open his closet and let out the skeletons of how he was advised to rape his own wife thrice. Waringo did not bear with her husband’s assaults. She ran away to her father’s house where she was sent back to her husband. She is forced to run again in order to find new life and love in another community. The elections are postponed and on the Christmas Day, the women call for a meeting with the two leaders. Each leader makes a narration that brings the community members to understand their leadership and give women a chance to rule.

Readings Isaiah 60:1-6 Psalm 72:-12,7-8, 10-13 Ephesians 3:2-3,5-6 Matthew 2:1-12
God’s intention was not only to come down to earth but to become known there; not only to be born but to be recognized. In fact, it is with this recognition in mind that we hold this celebration of the Epiphany, the great day of his manifestation. We are the rising starts with an obligation to preach and live as followers of Christ.
Preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, going ahead and leading, guarding the sacred heritage of our faith, showing mercy and charity to the needy and the poor, thus mirroring God's merciful love for us, and finally, praying without ceasing: these are the fundamental features of the episcopal ministry. Praying without ceasing means: never losing contact with God, letting ourselves be constantly touched by him in the depths of our hearts and, in this way, being penetrated by his light. Only someone who actually knows God can lead others to God. Only someone who leads people to God leads them along the path of life.
God is restless for us, he looks out for people willing to "catch" his unrest, his passion for us, people who carry within them the searching of their own hearts and at the same time open themselves to be touched by God's search for us. We are called to be stars of God for men, leading them along the path towards the true light, towards Christ. "In the same way, your light must shine before men so that they may see goodness in your deeds and give praise to your heavenly Father" (Mt 5: 16).
"How can this come about?", we also ask ourselves with the words that the Virgin addresses to the Archangel Gabriel. And she herself, the Mother of Christ and of the Church, gives us the answer: with her example of total availability to God's will - (Luke 1: 38) - she teaches us to be a "manifestation" of the Lord, opening our hearts to the power of grace and faithfully abiding by the words of her Son, light of the world.
