how many Solomons and Samsons are being destroyed?
Solomon is considered to be the wisest man that ever lived, yet there are some things that he did that were not wise at all like having 700 wives and 300 concubines. Think about this, if Solomon was to spend a day with each of his women, it would take him almost three years just to do that.He had an appetite for something that God had warned them about; not to marry foreign women. In all his wisdom, Solomon was not able to contain his appetite for foreign women and they turned his heart away from God and that led to his down fall. Samson also found himself in the same predicament. He had an appetite for philistine women that he could not contain and that left him bound bald and blind.
King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughters Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. They were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.
